Born during a 38°C German heatwave and a growing desire to be absolutely anywhere near a pool. Preferably somewhere with a little midcentury glamour, cold water and a Margarita within reach.
In the Heat is my own AI experiment, not a client job. I wanted to see how quickly a single mood image could grow into a moving little world, how consistent I could keep it and how far I could push the tools without burning through a ridiculous number of generations.
No brief, no client rounds, no brand rules. Add those and the whole exercise gets a lot less breezy.
This Pinterest image was the starting point.
Two days later, it became this film.
As a producer, I want to understand where these tools are heading, what they can already do and where they still fall apart. So every now and then, I make an AI film myself to follow that progress hands-on.
The takeaway? I’m genuinely impressed by how much the tools have improved since my last AI film in March. The jump in quality, motion and overall coherence is pretty remarkable. Not every continuity detail survives, but the mood does. Getting this far this quickly would have been much harder just a few months ago.
Production Note: Sound design didn’t make the cut. The Margarita did.
